Description

Naked Acres Farm is a diversified full-time family farm that provides healthful foods grown sustainably and ethically direct to our local communities.

Meet the Farmers

Margo and Gus have been farming together since January 2012. Gus has a wealth of experience in animal husbandry, having spent more than 20 years in veterinary medicine as well as soil science, land regeneration, and more. Margo’s background is in botany, native plants, and biology. Gus and Margo have built a strong relationship with the local community over the years, and their products are in high demand.

Naked Acres

Reason for Loan

Steward funding has helped Margo and Gus to purchase the 75-acres that they’ve been leasing, as well as providing the capital needed to make much needed improvements to their irrigation system. This will help them to improve crop production and allow them to reduce hay costs and improve grazing for their livestock.

What's Next?

Gus and Margo’s underlying goal is to work with nature, not against it. They hope to soon be able to increase both the quantity and the quality of their produce by making further infrastructure improvements. The addition of hoop houses for example, will help them to extend their growing season, further diversify, and serve their community even greater choice.
