ShangriLa Farms is focused on an elegant and relevant agroecological farming system on and around ShangriLa Plateau. The goal of ShangriLa is to preserve old growth forest, enrich the natural water systems, raise vegetables, honeybees and small animals, while ultimately fostering community.
Brady Girt has spent the last 10 years working developing the expertise to fulfil a unique vision. The Agronomy major (with a minor in Soil Science) hoped to buy 100 acres of pristine forest, using his expertise to both preserve and enrich the land by improving water systems, planting vegetables and fostering a community around the forest.
After operating on leased land for ten years, the land owner decided to use the land for other purposes. Naturally, Brady had to look for alternatives. Steward financed the purchase of 100 acres of forest as well as the equipment, labor, and working capital that would become ShangriLa Farms.
