Meet the Team

Meet the Farmers

Cori and Benjamin Rowley are designers who accidentally became farmers, and fell in love with agriculture. They are a husband and wife team that started their business journey by crafting and restoring vintage axes and tools a decade ago. They became farmers after they moved to their rural home in Canal Winchester, Ohio in 2014.

Their farm has grown rapidly over the past year to meet the needs of their community. Yellowood Farm has become a place for people to escape from the chaos. As they saw how neighbors began to depend on the farm and the sense of community it provided, they realized they needed to dig deep and start making changes so they could continue to grow. Their small farm was becoming a place where the community could come together. It was becoming a place where they could all heal together.

Sustainable Agriculture Practices

Yellowood Farm believes that sustainability is a social justice issue and that their work in agriculture requires addressing inequities in the food system. They have intertwined food system and social justice work into their practices:

No-till, cover crop planting, pesticide & chemical-free
Integrated solar power
Education on food resilience, tool restoration services, and workshops, and educational garden
Community Hoop House and coming Summer 2021
Accepting food waste for compost from local bakers and neighbors, as well as pumpkin and Christmas tree drop off

Meet the Team

Cori | She’s passionate about learning to grow food in every way possible, so we can help ANYONE grow their own dinner. She’s also an expert at listening to the needs of our community, which she’s garnered through her 13 years of product design and strategy work.

Benjamin | He brings a decade of axe and tools restoration to the farm, as well as the ability to build just about anything, for anyone. He has 15 years of design and construction experience, having worked in architecture and retail design.
