Building a repurposed shipping container grow space and several greenhouses to cultivate several stages of hemp plants for consistent year round growth.
Funded on 03/19/2021
The indoor building currently underway (see short work-in-progress video) is designed to closely follow sustainability principles in a true effort to minimize the ecological footprint inherent with indoor grows. The shell of the structure is four repurposed 40ft. long, high cube containers arranged in a horseshoe shape with one “double wide” segment and a timber framed clean room in the center, adjacent to all the containers. The exterior will be insulated using a creative installation of Reflectix, then wrapped in repurposed billboard vinyl for ideal weatherproofing and stability. As you can see in the diagram (see documents tab), this layout maximizes the usable space available while also minimizes the risks of cross contamination.
This layout also will greatly improve our flow of operations, enabling all stages of plant life and types of finished product to be cultivated simultaneously within the same facility as opposed to several costly installations cutting into usable farmable space. Upon its completion, they will be looking at around 1,400 sq. ft. of cultivation space with an additional 500 sq. ft. of valuable shaded processing space, vital for happy and efficient workers during the dramatically shifting seasons of the Pacific Northwest.
As a part of their pledge towards regenerative & sustainable practices, they plan to utilize only energy efficient LED lighting and H-Vac systems in their grow spaces, which has the potential to cut energy needs by more then half the standard indoor grow space requirements. Their phase two plan is to install solar panels on the roof of the structure to take the building off-the-grid entirely, as well as support most all of the farm's electrical infrastructure.
The plan for their light deprivation greenhouses is simple: they hope to build several 50ft. to 100ft. greenhouses that are truly versatile in their ability to be full- or short-season grow structures. By building them with light deprivation capabilities, they will then be able to harvest a mature crop several months before the market is flooded with competitively priced hemp, while also giving us the capabilities to install LED supplemental lighting for late season extension.
There are several ways Simply Sol intends to use their loan from Steard to complete these projects:
• The shipping container building is currently underway, so the funds will be applied to purchase and install the LED lights and control systems, HVAC, electrica,l and water outlets on the interior of the buildings.
• They have already completed the insulation and framing for the interiors of the building as well as exterior electrical paneling. They also plan to use this loan to finalize the flooring and source the last of their shelving/table/equipment needs (e.g., hoses, aerators, 50 gallon mixing tanks, etc.) to begin growing.
• Some funding will be allotted to sealing and completing the clean room via hiring additional hands and the purchasing of the last of their timber needs to finish the interior. Funds will also be used to purchase several greenhouses for light deprivation purposes. This will include light blocking and clear greenhouse plastic, industrial fans, greenhouse frames, installation labor, timber for end walls, fansm and supplemental lighting.
• Finally, loan funds will be used for soil preparation required for full greenhouse operation, which they plan to achieve by using an excavator to build with a relatively new regenerative German technique called Hugelkulture. Hugelkulture involves burying mycelium rich logs under varying degrees of organic material which would then be covered in compost and top soil. This creates a biodiverse, nutrient-rich deep bed with the capability to self-water while never requiring tilling in the future. Any remaining funds will be applied to worker wages, overall farm operations, and future equipment maintenance or acquisition.
Simply Sol is hoping to accelerate their lending campaign to allow them the chance at a competitive start this February (2021); therefore, they’ve created some fun incentives to share a little bit of what they grow/make at Simply Sol with generous supporters that have already contributed and to inspire new participating lenders to join in on the fun:

We are truly blown away by all the contributions we've received! Our campaign just passed the 83% mark last week and it's looking as though we could potentially finish up ahead of schedule and not a moment too soon! We are so ready to launch into this next season now that we've fully prepped our indoor grow space as far as possible and clarified our greenhouse plans. Once we receive our loan, we plan to finalize our electrical installation for our greenhouses and purchase the remaining LED lights required to be fully up and running, a goal we hope to achieve within the first week following the payout of our loan. The spring is here and we are so excited to do what we do best, cultivate the medicines we believe can change the world! This is the sweet spot window of time for a successful beginning to the PNW growing season and we are ecstatic to be so close to our goal. Thank you so much again for all of your support! Keep spreading the word and thank you for helping create the change we all want to see!

A warm hello from Simply Sol!
Wow, we've been truly grateful for all the support and contributions some of you have made to our campaign!
Our fires are fueled and our goals are in sight, which is immensely reassuring in this insecure times! In the meantime, we've been enjoying the light winter maintenence of tree pruning and garden planing while continuing to work on our building projects. If we can keep this weeks momentum up, then we'll be on our way in no time!
We are inspired everyday by seeing the green growth around us via this campaign and the coming of Spring so evident on our farm. We thought a quick video would be a great way to share some of the inspiring monumental changes we've made to our land to begin our regenerative dream since our start in May 2020, as well as the last remaining pieces to complete our farming puzzle. Watch at the link below!
Thank you so much for helping to support our ever-growing sustainable dreams!

Much love from Simply Sol!
This is Logan and Travis sending out a huge thank you to those who have contributed to our loan so far! We are beyond inspired by your generosity and are more excited than ever to dig deeper into our project goals. We’ve also been lying out our farm plan for the 2021 growing season and can’t wait to bring you more hemp varieties, diverse products and plant medicines grown using some new and well-loved regenerative techniques.
So far, we’ve constructed the shell of the space to its entirety; landed repurposed containers in a perfect U shape, cut steel to remove walls and install doors, framed the clean room, insulated and wrapped the entire building and installed majority of the electrical. The last hurdle for the completion of this project is the lighting and final materials (pots, roller, soil) required for the grow spaces, the former being more expensive than the entire construction combined! Once we’ve secured enough participation on our loan, we will be fully prepared to hit the ground running as an operational, energy efficient, cultivation and propagation space practically instantaneously. This would allow us a huge jump start on breeding and propagate sales beginning in the Spring rapidly approaching.
We are hoping to accelerate our campaign to allow us a chance at a competitive start this February; therefore, we’ve created some fun incentives to share a little bit of what we do here at Simply Sol with our generous supporters that have already contributed and to inspire new contributors to join in on the fun.
