The Regen Ranch is a 100-acre holistically managed livestock and egg production farm located in Oakwood, Texas.
Funded on 03/28/2022
The Regen Ranch is a 100-acre holistically managed livestock and egg production farm in the East Texas town of Oakwood. Ranch owner and manager, Christine Martin, employs regenerative principles to raise Dexter cattle, Dorper sheep, Broad Breasted White turkeys, and an assortment of egg-layer chickens. The farm has a commercial kitchen where Christine produces bone broth and renders lard for sale. They currently sell at four area farmers markets and began shipping directly to consumers in 2021—a new sales channel that has become exceedingly profitable for the ranch. Christine offers farm tours for those interested in learning about holistic land management and regenerative ranching. In 2022, the ranch is increasing its herd size and expanding their shipping capacity to meet robust demand for their delicious, nutrient-rich meat and eggs.
The Regen Ranch will use their loan from Steward to increase their head of cattle, incorporating around 60 calves at various ages to stagger their grass-fed beef production. Funds will also be used to purchase bulk shipping materials to increase profits for their high-demand online sales.
Operations at The Regen Ranch support carbon, mineral, water, and energy cycles to benefit the health of ecosystems and the humans they provide for. Their holistic ethos avows that healthy soils produce healthy animals, which lead to healthier humans. Regenerative on-farm practices include:
I am humbled, blessed and overjoyed at the support received towards growing my meat production on the ranch! So much so, I cried at each notification from a lender within my local community, and when I checked how the public funding was doing- completely funded within 3 minutes of the project going public!
Your generosity in supporting this ol' gal's dreams and passion makes me speechless, and all I can say is THANK YOU!
I've sourced a few head of cattle while I waited for the project to get funded, and continue looking for more. Once the funds arrive in my bank account, I'll purchase the ones already earmarked.
I raise Dexter cattle. Dexters are a heritage breed, originally from the UK, and are a smaller, dual purpose (meat and milk) breed with a sweet and docile temperament. As a grass fed, grass finished operation, the smaller frame of the Dexter means that they are more efficient converting grass into meat, and this also allows me to carry more animals than a bigger framed breed.
I also have placed my order for shipping supplies: boxes and liners, dry ice containers, and 'swag' (for the WOW factor when opening a The Regen Ranch meat box).
Thank you for supporting a regenerative and holistically managed, woman owned and operated ranch's growth to meet demand for nutrient dense, healthy, flavorful meats!
