Meet the Farmers
The incredible story of Lil Bucks started eight years ago—in a cafe in Australia—when Emily Griffith, future CEO and Founder, found herself eating an açaí bowl topped with sprouted buckwheat that was so delicious and satisfying she wondered, “Why isn’t this everywhere?!”
Emily soon returned to her hometown outside of Chicago, and got to work on her new mission: make sure buckwheat is everywhere.
The first product line from Lil Bucks was made in Emily’s kitchen and was simply sprouted, flavored, and dehydrated Organic buckwheat seeds for shaking on top of yogurts, smoothies, oatmeal and on anything else that needed a boost of nutritious crunch. Emily traveled from farmers market to farmers market and from trade show to trade show selling her Lil Bucks crunch. As it grew in popularity, and Emily needed to increase production, Emily found herself visiting all the Whole Foods stores in her area and emptying their raw Organic buckwheat bins one by one.
Today, Lil Bucks has expanded beyond Emily’s kitchen.
Lil Bucks now has three popular product lines—Lil Bucks Crunch, Clusterbucks, and SZNING (pronounced “seasoning”)—which are available in 800 stores across the midwest. They no longer purchase their ingredients from the Whole Foods bulk bins, but directly from Regenerative Organic Certified farms and Organic farms around the world.
In March of 2024, Lil Bucks will expand from regional distribution to national distribution after Emily secured new distribution agreements with Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Target.
