Meet the Farmers
We are Clint & Sheree Crowe, dreamers, entrepreneurs, and farmers. Our first careers in technology, finance, health care, and administration allowed us to raise our children and provide a good living but something was missing. We longed to do something that made a difference and served others and, as Clint says, "finish well.” With his love for plants and Sheree's love for people, we began to dream of a destination working farm to grow food and bring people together. There were several challenges including living on a mountain, raising children, and, well, jobs. But the dream persisted until 2017 when we were introduced to the vertical aeroponic Tower Gardens. The opportunity to grow a lot of food in a small space with minimal resources and limited time became a reality. That's when Sweetwater Urban Farms was born.
In 2017 Clint built a 2100 sq ft greenhouse in Cumming, Georgia on less than 1/4 acre leased lot. Clint primarily grows lettuce, greens and herbs and sells at farmers markets and the greenhouse. This year he started his first CSA subscription with great results. Sheree primarily grows seedlings for Tower Gardens as well as hydroponic and soil gardens. Her seedling business, ATL Urban Farms, sells locally and ships seedlings within the eastern half of the U.S. It's been an amazing 3 years and we are prepared and excited to move and expand our farm to grow more and do more.
You can take the techie to the farm but you can't take the techie out of the farmer. As soon as Clint started managing his greenhouse he immediately knew he needed help. So to manage his greenhouse he created an IoT system using open source software and devices to automate everything and collect data. Now wherever he is, he can check and manage the greenhouse through an app. This farm app and more technology will soon be available through his company, Seedgistics.
We also grow seedlings for hydroponic/aeroponic gardens and teach home and business gardeners to grow their own food sustainably. Our mission is to grow food for our community and help our community grow food for themselves.
