Overview

Located in the historic port city of Astoria on Oregon's north coast, Astoria Food Hub will support a resilient regional food system for diverse producers and consumers. The space will function as a central source to launch and grow sustainable food businesses, providing access to local cold storage, commercial kitchen space, distribution, marketing, and technical assistance, as well as retail, café, and educational experiences for visitors to learn more about regenerative food practices.

Use of Funds

After a successful loan from Steward to fund the purchase of the 27,000 sq. ft. Mason, Ehrman & Co. building, this second loan disbursement will be used for construction, outfitting the building with critical infrastructure including a commercial kitchen, processing and distribution facilities, and onsite cold and dry storage.

Regenerative & Sustainable Practices

The diverse collection of partnering producers at Astoria Food Hub are working towards a brighter future for regional economies, ecological vitality, and healthy and connected communities. Astoria Food Hub is committed to a myriad of regenerative and sustainable business practices, including:

  • Sourcing food products from producers who work to restore soil health, raise animals humanely and in accord with their natural behaviors and diets, and protect biodiversity and native species habitats.

  • Increasing distribution efficiency for producers, which will lower carbon emissions and food miles from reduced road travel while giving back more time for producers to grow, raise or harvest our region’s food.

  • Allowing producers to expand their operations, create and retain more jobs, enact fair labor policies, and increase consumer access to locally sourced and produced food.

  • Committed to equitable, diverse, and inclusionary businesses practices.
