Dusty Roads is a no-till organic farm serving the Franklinton Louisiana area with sustainably grown vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs, bees and eggs.
Penny Jenks has been growing all her life, and growing full time for the last five years. Along with her son Tyler, they grow a wide range of fruits and vegetables using 100% organic and sustainable methods, including many varieties not seen elsewhere in the area.
Of the 20,000lbs of vegetables that Penny produced last year, they lost almost 60% to the heat. Steward funding has allowed them to buy a walk in cooler that they can use to protect what they grow from the extremes of Louisiana’s weather. Funds have also been used to activate vacant land, plant fruit trees, purchase a small tractor, and build a perimeter fence.
