Meet the Ranchers

Caryn Seely, owner and operator of Harbor Master Beef, located in Clatskanie, Oregon, fell in love with raising livestock when she was just a kid. At the age of 5, she was given her first calf and has been hooked ever since. Fast forward to today, Caryn has built up a herd of 170 head of cattle that she currently grazes on approximately 200 acres of leased land. The purchase of this property that neighbors her family’s existing mint farm will enable Caryn to expand her herd size to 400 head and manage the additional 395 acres through regenerative grazing practices. 


Sustainable & Regenerative Practices

In addition to rotationally grazing the cattle, Harbor Master Beef deploys a number of sustainable and regenerative practices:

  • Local habitat protection for wildlife throughout certain areas of the 395 acres

  • Plans to establish pollinator habitats throughout the property

  • No-till pasture-based system

  • Grows and harvests hay to keep livestock on the pasture over the winter
