Land purchase enabling Harbor Master Beef to finish their cattle on pasture and provide quality grass-fed beef for their community.
Funded on 07/20/2021
Caryn Seely, owner and operator of Harbor Master Beef, fell in love with raising livestock when she was just a kid. At the age of 5, she was given her first calf and has been hooked ever since. Fast forward to today, Caryn has built up a herd of 170 head of cattle that she currently grazes on approximately 200 acres of leased land. The purchase of this property in Clatskanie, Oregon, which neighbors her family’s 4th generation mint farm, will enable Caryn to expand her herd size to 400 head and manage the additional 395 acres through regenerative grazing practices.
Harbor Master Beef will use a bridge loan from Steward to purchase the property adjacent to the family’s existing mint fields. By purchasing this land, Harbor Master Beef will not only enrich the land through regenerative grazing and land management, but they will ensure that this land, plus hundreds of additional acres, stays in agricultural production.
In addition to rotationally grazing the cattle, Harbor Master Beef deploys a number of sustainable and regenerative practices:
